PCL Tear
Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) injury occurs during sports-related activities or high velocity, traumatic accidents. Indications for operative treatment of PCL tear include acute injuries, active young patient, either isolated grade 3 tears or combined injury such as grade 2 injury with Posterolateral Corner instability
ACL Tear
One of the most common problems treated by orthopaedic surgeons today is anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries. Athletes who participate in high risk activities are at increased risk of injuring their ACL. Tears of the ACL frequently cause ongoing pain, swelling, and episodes of instability in the knee.
Patellofemoral Disease
Patellofemoral disease may have multiple etiologies, but most are due to trauma, arthritis, and/or different static and passive factors. These factors include; imbalance of quadriceps strength, patella alta, alignment of the lower limb, dysplasia of the trochlea and functionality of the Medial Patellofemoral Ligament (MPFL). Many injuries and anatomic issues can predispose patients to patellofemoral malalignment, leading to the diagnosis of patellofemoral syndrome or instability. Operative intervention is aimed at correcting the underlying osseous deformity, repairing or replacing damaged cartilage surfaces and reconstructing/repairing the soft tissues.
Meniscal Tear
Meniscal tears are one of the most common problems treated by orthopaedic surgeons today. The meniscus plays an important role in knee stability and distribution of forces within the knee joint and therefore should be repaired whenever possible. Due to its poor blood supply and challenging tear patterns, repair of the torn meniscus can present quite a challenge
Chondral Defect
A chondral defect is a defect in the articular (hyaline) cartilage at the end of the bones. The defect may be found on the femoral condyle, tibial plateau, patella, talus, humerus or on other articular surfaces. Depending on the specific pathology, if the defect is severe enough it may be treated with assorted resurfacing techniques to restore the bone back to a smooth articular surface.
Total Knee Replacement (TKR)
What Is Osteoarthritis? – Osteoarthritis is a progressive form of arthritis that is characterized by breakdown of the cartilage in joints. Osteoarthritis is abbreviated OA and is also known as degenerative joint disease and “wear and tear” arthritis. Osteoarthritis causes pain in the joints with activity.
